Construction of the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel has been underway since 2021. Stretching 18.1 kilometres, the immersed tunnel will connect the German island of Fehmarn with the Danish island of Lolland, creating a direct road and rail link between the greater Hamburg and Copenhagen metropolitan areas. Scheduled for completion in 2031, the fixed Fehmarnbelt crossing is set to become the longest and deepest combined road and rail tunnel in the world.
Our partner Biergans Pumpen Vertrieb from Duisburg has been involved in this major infrastructure project from the very beginning. Tsurumi high-performance pumps play an important role in a range of applications – from site dewatering and flood protection to operations inside the tunnel.

To ensure maximum speed and flexibility, Biergans has set up a construction site workshop at the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. There, Tsurumi submersible dirty water pumps are serviced on the spot and repaired as needed, so they can return to their workplace in the tunnel as quickly as possible.
