Even the extremely robust and durable Tsurumi pumps require regular servicing to ensure reliable operation over many years. Proper maintenance significantly reduces downtime, lowers operating costs and helps maintain consistently high performance.
Regular inspections, correct operating procedures and timely maintenance of key components such as impellers, mechanical seals and electrodes are essential to keeping your Tsurumi pump in optimum condition.
Recommended Inspection and Maintenance Intervals
Monthly insulation resistance check
The insulation resistance should be checked once a month and remain above 1 MΩ. This protects the motor and electrical components and ensures safe operation.
Six-monthly oil inspection
The oil should be inspected every six months for signs of contamination or decomposition. Contaminated oil can impair lubrication and damage the mechanical seal.
Performance monitoring
Pump performance should be monitored continuously. If output drops by more than 15% compared to normal operation, the pump should be inspected immediately.
Key Components Requiring Regular Attention
Mechanical seals
Mechanical seals should generally be replaced every two years. If oil contamination is detected, replacement should be carried out earlier. Seals, O-rings, V-rings and shaft protection sleeves should also be inspected regularly and replaced when wear is identified.
Impeller
The impeller should be checked and cleaned regularly. Operating the pump within the correct pump curve helps minimise wear and maintain efficiency.
Electrodes
Electrodes must be cleaned regularly and checked for correct function to ensure reliable start and stop control.
Oil maintenance
Oil should be changed every 12 to 24 months. Milky oil is usually an indication that the mechanical seal needs replacement.
Special Requirements for FSP and BER Models
For FSP foam separators, the oil should be checked every 1,500 operating hours or every six months and replaced every 3,000 operating hours or every 12 months. Mechanical seals in the FSP series should be replaced annually.
For BER models, the ejector and air intake system should be inspected monthly to ensure they remain clean and fully functional.
Overhaul Intervals
Even if a pump appears to be operating normally, a complete overhaul is recommended every three to five years to ensure long-term reliability.
